A nurse aide performs everyday tasks under the supervision of nursing and medical staff. This course is designed to prepare the nurse aide for the mandatory State Nurse Aide test in a few short weeks.
Students receive hands-on training in a lab setting. Curriculum includes: Infection control, communication & interpersonal skills, safety & emergency procedures, resident’s rights, promoting residents' independence, basic nursing skills, restorative services, personal care skills, and mental health & social services needs.
In addition to 60 classroom hours, 16 clinical rotation hours are scheduled and assigned within the first week of class. Clinical dates and times are in addition to class posted class schedules.
Workbook and State Test are included in tuition cost. The State Nurse Aide test is administered at Apollo within 4 weeks of successful completion of class.
- Current 2-step Mantoux (TB) test (within 3 months). If you are currently working in healthcare and had your original 2-step and have maintained your yearly updates (within 3 months), bring copies of those results with you to class.
- Uniform and clinical requirements will be discussed first day of class.
