This class will be a combination of classroom and hands-on fire scene investigation. Students are taught the basic skills and requirements to conduct an initial origin and cause fire investigation, fire behavior, scene preservation, documentation, and legal aspects. This training is for law enforcement and fire services and will follow the guidelines of NFPA 921 and 1033.
Prerequisites: NIMS IS-100 & 700 Certificate, clear FBI/BCI background check (included), protective eyewear, steel toed boots, gloves, helmet, digital camera and laptop are recommended, Certification card, letter from your Chief stating that student is in good standing and is approved by their department to attend this class, current edition of Fire Investigator Principles and Practices to NFPA 921 and 1033 by Jones and Bartlett, and Textbook (textbook and workbook included in tuition).
